Destiny's Child Wants 'N Sync To Call 'Em
(3/24/00) Launch

'N Sync has made reference to their tour openers Destiny's Child at various promotional appearances in support of their new album, No Strings Attached. The lovely ladies in Destiny's Child tell LAUNCH, however, that they are still waiting for 'N Sync to "say their name" and mean it.

Destiny's Child's Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and new group members Farrah Franklin and Michelle Williams asked LAUNCH to spread the word to 'N Sync that they are ready to hit the road for a summer tour together.

"You know what? No one's asked us. Our manager knows about it, I'm sure, and like he talked with us about it briefly, but we don't know anything. Nothing's in like writing or confirmed right now. The great thing is that they are going around telling everybody that they want us on tour. That is wonderful! That's a great sign -- that means they are serious. So, we wouldn't mind going either, guys! We would love going! We would love going because you guys are cool and popular!"

Destiny's Child has been quite busy recently -- the girls will open for Brian McKnight at New York City's Madison Square Garden tonight and Saturday (March 24 and 25). In addition, the group's track "Perfect Man" is featured on the Romeo Must Die soundtrack, along with new tracks by Aaliyah, Timbalada, Joe, and Ginuwine. The group will also have a song titled "Independent Women" on the soundtrack to the upcoming film, Charlie's Angels: The Movie, which stars Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, and Lucy Liu. The song might also be the first single from that soundtrack.

Destiny's Child's latest single, "Say My Name," is currently Number One on four separate Billboard charts: Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks, the Rhythmic Top 40, the Hot 100, and Hot Dance Music/Maxi-Single Sales. Their album The Writing's On The Wall has already been certified three-times platinum.
