(5/17/00) Launch

'N Sync singer Lance Bass recently announced that he will kick off his new pop/country record label Free Lance Entertainment with a national talent search dubbed "Outback Mountainboards Presents Free Lance Entertainment Search 2000."

The search allows singers 18 and older to audition for the chance to be signed to Free Lance. Bass explained to LAUNCH exactly what he will look for from potential candidates. "Well, the first quality is definitely the voice. You know, it's going to be strict talent; I'm definitely going to know what I'm looking for when I see them first on stage," he said. "I can definitely tell, 'Oh, they've got what it takes,' and I've got some great, great people that are going to be involved with the search, like Robin Wiley. She's the one who gave us our sound as 'N Sync and was our first vocal coach, and she's going to be at all the cities and she's really great at picking out vocal talent."

Performers can enter the talent search via getmusic.com, by mail (Free Lance Entertainment, P.O. Box 1989, Brandon, Mississippi 39043), and/or by auditioning at one of the six Planet Hollywood talent-search sites: Dallas, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Orlando, Nashville, or New York.Tonight (May 18), 'N Sync returns to the U.S. from the Cannes Film Festival for a concert performance at the Philips Arena in Atlanta.
